Artist Statement

Every time I find myself in the Swedish/Nordic summer, I experience it with the unique perspective of an outsider from Caracas, Venezuela, where the weather remains consistent year-round. This seasonal shift offers a stark contrast and a sense of wonder at the transformations that define the Nordic summer experience.

Observing how people here cherish the sunlight and outdoor activities with a particular zest feels both enlightening and distinctive. Yet, this enjoyment of summer doesn’t imply perfection; the weather often remains overcast, with cool temperatures requiring a varied wardrobe, from warm layers to lighter pieces.

Through my work, I aim to capture the essence of this vibrant yet nuanced summer culture—reflecting the joy and appreciation for the fleeting warmth and light that permeates daily life. This exploration has deepened my understanding of the human connection to nature and the rhythm of the seasons, enriching my artistic vision.
